John A. Griffin is the Founder and President of Blue Ridge Capital.


The keynote speaker for the 2016 UIC is John A. Griffin, Founder and President of Blue Ridge Capital, started in 1996. Prior to Blue Ridge, he served in various positions at Tiger Management, eventually becoming President. Previously, he was a financial analyst in the Morgan Stanley Merchant Banking group. Mr. Griffin is the Founder of iMentor.org, a nonprofit online mentoring organization, started in 1999. He also founded the Blue Ridge Foundation, an incubator of start-up non-profits. He serves on the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation and the Julian H. Robertson Family Foundation. Additionally, Mr. Griffin serves on the Board of Visitors at the University of Virginia and is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the McIntire School of Commerce Foundation. He has a B.S. in Finance from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. Mr. Griffin is also a visiting professor at the University of Virginia where he teaches an investment seminar during the fall semester.
